Normally people freak out about it. I had a chance to break it down to my part time apprentice and to show exactly how using, what I call spirit judo, that a person of knowledge can literally turn the dark side into aiding the light.Okhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06553450219686875778noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8529291650858195506.post-40092133514809906142015-05-11T19:54:49.593+01:002015-05-11T19:54:49.593+01:00Totally brilliant ! We mostly chatted about Robin of Sherwood. He had an active interest in magick and said that he wrote Herne the Hunter into Robin... so that this brilliant myth could have more magic in the tradition of the Arthurian stories. There may also have been several Wiccans closely involved in some to of the productions mentioned above but Oaths of Silence prevent me saying much more than that ;) Great article - thanksJulian Vaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16098219269414987284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8529291650858195506.post-32083490901980720682012-06-13T21:20:11.206+01:002012-06-13T21:20:11.206+01:00I agree. I think staying way away from psychology would be a step in the right direction for a start!Josephinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12815163823337524798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8529291650858195506.post-44043283497310200852012-06-13T20:23:48.561+01:002012-06-13T20:23:48.561+01:00It always gets down to asking the right questions....It always gets down to asking the right questions. I agree so much there. So my next question is can we as occultists step back and figure out the right questions. Philosophically I feel we are still caught between philosophies such as the spiritist vs the psychological interpretation which leave us in a similar position to science back in ancient Greece.Paolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01383786801759206704noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8529291650858195506.post-5316451474876576962012-06-13T19:03:45.063+01:002012-06-13T19:03:45.063+01:00Very interesting post Paolo, thankyou. I think the academic study of magical history is necessary and useful up to a point.. but then it begins to fall apart when a researcher tries to make sense psychologically or theoretically of a magical action of which they have no experience or understanding. <br />I also think there needs to be a separation between the study of magic and the study of the history of magic... they are two very different things and where a history can be tracked through usual academic methods, the actual study of magic needs a very different approach. The current models of study found in academia do not work for magic because they do not ask the right questions and are not speaking with the right language. I think once that hurdle is figured out, then we all move a step further up the ladder and really interesting things can happen.Josephinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12815163823337524798noreply@blogger.com
